In this role, you will play a critical part in fabricating precise steel components using advanced CNC machinery to ensure that our projects are completed efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
Position Summary
The CNC Operator will be responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC machines to fabricate structural and miscellaneous steel components. This role requires a keen eye for detail, excellent technical skills, and a strong commitment to safety and quality. The ideal candidate will have experience in CNC operations within the steel fabrication industry and be ready to contribute to the success of complex projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- CNC Machine Setup & Operation: Set up and operate CNC machines (e.g., plasma cutters, laser cutters, and other CNC fabrication equipment) to cut, drill, and shape structural and miscellaneous steel components according to specifications and blueprints.
- Programming & Tool Selection: Program CNC machines using CAD/CAM software to ensure precise and efficient operation. Select the appropriate tools, materials, and machine settings for each project.
- Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work orders to determine material requirements, dimensions, and machine settings.
- Quality Control: Inspect and measure finished products to ensure they meet the required tolerances, quality standards, and specifications. Make adjustments as needed to maintain accuracy.
- Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of CNC equipment to ensure optimal performance. Troubleshoot and resolve any machine malfunctions or issues during production.
- Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, fabricators, and other team members to ensure the timely completion of projects. Communicate effectively to resolve any challenges that arise during production.
- Safety & Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines, including the proper handling of materials and operation of machinery. Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a CNC Operator, preferably in the steel fabrication or manufacturing industry. Experience with CNC plasma cutting, laser cutting, or similar equipment is a plus. On the Job Training is available.
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of CNC programming, machine setup, and operation. Experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar) is preferred.
- Blueprint Reading: Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and blueprints with a focus on structural and miscellaneous steel.
- Attention to Detail: High level of precision and attention to detail in all aspects of machine operation and finished product inspection.
- Problem Solving: Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address issues with machinery or materials quickly.
- Safety Awareness: In-depth knowledge of safety procedures and practices when operating CNC machinery, with a strong commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy materials, stand for extended periods, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity and precision.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications: CNC programming certifications, welding certifications, or similar industry credentials are a plus.
- Experience with Steel Fabrication: Familiarity with structural and miscellaneous steel components and their fabrication processes is highly desirable.
- OSHA Certification: OSHA 10 or 30-hour safety certification is a plus.
